Cremo’s, ‘№13 Distiller’s Blend Body Wash,’ promises a shot of cleanliness with the daring scent of bourbon, but will the quality of its craftsmanship meet your demand?
You don’t have to drink alcohol to appreciate the classy scent of bourbon. It’s sophisticated, smoky allure ushers a magic that happens when you mix elemental forces with human ingenuity. It’s a powerful aroma that has potential to condition experiences relived through memories we carry in time.
As you can tell the scent enchants me. For that reason, my inner bourbon hound came out this weekend when I encountered a look-alike bottle of Jim Beam in the body wash isle at T.J. Maxx. The design even included an imitation red-wax seal front and center, just like the real thing. It earned my respect and set the tone to make showering something other than the daily rigmarole.
I knew going in there are many kinds of bourbon smells. If it wasn’t done well, it would give the same impression as grandpa’s dusty, old, pride. That’s the bourbon smell I didn’t want. I was looking for a fresh signature scent with a smoky woodsy appeal full of mystery and enchantment.
At the moment of truth, I nosed the bottle and took a whiff; Wow. It was genuine, provocative, and projected a distinguished character that exuded confidence and sex appeal.
I couldn’t wait to shower.
Performance
The entire drive home I was thinking…‘But how’s it going to perform under pressure? Rich lather? Rinse? Durability? Will it carry long enough to impress my friends?’ Finally… we arrived.
I ran into the house and headed straight into the shower. The scent mixed with steam and blew in the air out my window where my neighbors could smell the aroma in the parking lot.
They all started complaining about how great the smell was escaping my bathroom window. Okay, that didn’t happen…but I washed and rinsed with ease and felt like a bourbon king.
The Cremo Brand
Cremo packages their products in a retro 50s barber shop style, and offers a variety of women’s and men’s grooming products for hair, body and shaving. Their logo tagline reads, ‘Astonishingly Superior,’ and their website promises a ‘Barber Grade,’ experience.
Most of the men’s products carry masculine, woodsy scent notes such as bourbon, oak, sage and citrus. They also offer shaving creams and deodorant sticks for women with a more feminine scent line, including coconut, mango and vanilla orchid.
Where You Can Find It
Cremo sells products at Target, Walmart, Amazon, Walgreens, and CVS, among a long list of other retailers. I recommend trying out the local T.J. Maxx, Ross, and Marshall’s stores where you might score a discounted price like I did.
What I Like
It provides a strong, clean bourbon smell that takes my mind to a place I enjoy every time I visit.
What I Don’t Like
Two concerns: Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS), and scent longevity.
SLS may affect some people with sensitive skin, and scent vanishes in about an hour or two. However, this may be different for everyone and there’s a Cremo №13 body spray if you want to carry it longer.
Gifting Possibilities
This body wash makes an ideal gift for any occasion. Its profile is perfect for the person who appreciates the smell of whisky, bourbon or cognac with a splash of the nostalgic.
Conclusion
I’ve always been a scent snob. I have colognes… the names of which I will never reveal. For me, it’s a rare day when I find a fresh scent that meets the high standard I’ve set. Cremo’s ‘№13 Distiller’s Blend Body Wash,’ surpassed my expectations, and I’ll definitely be buying another round — cheers!
